Some greetings are said. Diwali greetings are lit, drawn, cooked and carried across time zones. Every year, as Diwali approaches, searches for wishes and messages surge across India and around the world, because finding the right words for the festival of lights is part of the celebration itself. Diwali in 2026 falls on Sunday, 8 November, with Dhanteras on Friday, 6 November marking the start of festivities.
Here is a collection of Diwali wishes in English and Hindi for every relationship, from the family group chat to the formal client email. Take them, adapt them, make them yours.

When and how to send
Tradition gives the greetings a natural rhythm. Dhanteras wishes go out on Friday, 6 November, often with blessings for wealth and health. The main Diwali greetings belong to Sunday, 8 November, from the evening puja onwards. Bhai Dooj messages for brothers and sisters follow on Wednesday, 11 November, and for Gujarati friends and colleagues, New Year greetings belong to Tuesday, 10 November, the day of Bestu Varas.
The greetings above are starting points. A wish becomes memorable when you add one true detail: a shared memory, the name of their favourite sweet, a prayer for something specific they are working towards. And if you are celebrating with elders, a phone call still beats a forwarded message, every single time.
From all of us at DharmikVibes, may your Diwali be bright, your home be full, and your year ahead be kind. Happy Diwali and a prosperous New Year. Shubh Deepavali.
