Historic Moment in Ayodhya: Ram Darbar to Be Consecrated on June 5 at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple
In a moment of profound religious and national significance, the Ram Darbar at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, Ayodhya, has been formally consecrated today on the holy occasion of Ganga Dussehra, completing another monumental chapter in India's most revered temple project. This ceremony follows the earlier Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla on January 22, 2024, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
With the unveiling and consecration of Ram Darbar on the first floor, the temple now allows devotees to not only witness the child form of Ram Lalla on the ground floor but also immerse themselves in the complete divine court of Lord Ram and all the prominent characters from the epic Ramayana.
🛕 A Grand Vision Now Realized: Full Ramayana Darshan in One Complex
The 70-acre temple complex, meticulously designed by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, now brings alive the entire Ramayana for devotees. In addition to the sanctum of Ram Lalla and Ram Darbar, the complex features temples dedicated to every key character and sage associated with Lord Ram’s life.
According to Temple Administrator Gopal Rao, a total of 14 temples around the main sanctum are now complete. These include shrines for:
Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesh, Surya Dev, and Mata Annapurna
Maharshi Valmiki, Maharshi Vashishtha, Maharshi Vishwamitra, Maharshi Agastya
Nishad Raj, Mata Shabari, and Devi Ahilya
Each shrine has been carefully crafted to give devotees a chance to witness the devotion, philosophy, and dharma embodied by these Ramayana characters.
🪔 Ram Darbar: The Divine Assembly on the First Floor
The newly consecrated Ram Darbar on the temple’s first floor is nothing short of divine grandeur. The white marble idols, sculpted by Jaipur artisans using the Hemmark photographic technique, offer lifelike realism and divine expressions.
🌸 Idol Configuration:
Lord Ram and Sita Mata are seated on a two-foot-high white marble throne
Lakshman and Hanuman sit in front in reverence
Bharat and Shatrughna stand behind the throne, honoring their elder brother
The idols were transported from Jaipur in a ceremonial convoy on May 21 and reached Ayodhya on May 22 under tight security. The temple trust coordinated closely with the Uttar Pradesh government to manage transportation and ceremonial logistics.
A team of eleven senior priests arrived in Ayodhya by May 30, with additional support from local priests, to conduct the three-day-long consecration rituals which began on June 3 and culminated today.
📖 Ramayana in Many Languages on the Second Floor
The second floor of the temple is currently under development and will house multilingual versions of the Ramayana, including some of the oldest known texts. This initiative is designed to make Ayodhya not only a place of worship but also a center for spiritual learning and cultural preservation.
🎨 Murals and Architectural Details Enrich the Spiritual Journey
The lower plinth (ground base) of the temple displays scenic murals depicting episodes from the Ramayana, enhancing the storytelling and spiritual engagement for every pilgrim.
The temple also features four grand entrance gates, with the southern gate being the most prominent. Measuring 17 meters high, 30 meters long, and 11 meters wide, the gate is adorned with ornate carvings of elephants, lions, horses, and floral motifs, making the temple a stunning symbol of Indian architectural heritage.
🚗 New Infrastructure: ₹8.5 Crore Parking Facility for Pilgrims
To support the swelling crowds of visitors and ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience, the Ayodhya Nagar Nigam has inaugurated a modern parking facility built at a cost of ₹8.5 crore. Located behind the district jail, this 14,000 square meter lot is now operational and equipped with amenities for thousands of vehicles.
🚦 Crowd Control and Sanctity Measures
Due to the high sanctity of the first floor, only a limited number of devotees will be allowed at a time for the Ram Darbar darshan. Live darshan arrangements and large screen displays across the premises are in place to allow all pilgrims to witness the ceremony virtually.
📺 Live Broadcast and Global Participation
The entire event is being broadcast live on Doordarshan and major news channels, with online streaming available through the temple trust’s digital platforms. Millions across India and the diaspora are expected to witness this historic moment.
